SAN JOSE City, Nueva Ecija – “In a world where technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) challenge traditional labor markets the Philippines to become an advanced economy, We should not resist these innovations but instead harness them and work alongside them,” said Fernando Dysico, a Novo Ecijano.

Dysico of San Jose City in Nueva Ecija, who was recently chosen as participant to the Asia Youth International’s Model United Nations in Seoul, South Korea.

“Improving education in our country also should be a priority and investment in the services sector must be encouraged.” he added

Out of 5,000 applications at the simulations, the UN event only drew 280 participants for 180 countries and Dysico was assigned to represent South Africa.

Although he did not win the top (10) award in the competitive event, Dysico said it was the most unforgettable experience in the global gathering of youths from all corners of the world to simulate the United Nations which the event held on July 24-28, 2025.

The 21-year-old Dysico, the youngest son of 2nd District Nueva Ecija board member Ferdinand Dysico, is the chapter president of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).

“This experience will allow me to represent Susquehanna University on a global stage, engage with international peers and apply the skills, I’ve gained from my coursework in a real-world diplomatic setting,” said Dysico who interviewed with reporters here.

He is a triple major in mathematical economics, international studies and history with a minor in finance and is now teaching economics at Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania.

Here, in these simulations, participants debate current issues on the UN agenda, aiming to find solutions through diplomatic negotiations which was tackled important economic and social issues.

These experiences introduced Dysico to the world of international diplomacy and negotiation, inspiring him to take part in the conference in South Korea.

“We inspired me to compete at Asia Youth International’s Model UN in Seoul was my past experiences in Model EU,” he said.

“In 2024, I participated in the annual Mid-Atlantic EU simulation where I won the Best Delegate Award for the Economic and Finance Committee, as well as in the University of Pittsburgh Model EU earlier this year.”

“I especially enjoyed engaging with equally capable and competent individuals who challenged me intellectually and brought out my best self,” he added.

Gatchalian formally ascends Senate President-ship; Cayetano bloc retreats

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano’s concession that Senator Sherwin Gatchalian’s camp had already secured the numbers necessary to take the Senate presidency was an acknowledgment of political reality, not necessarily the end of his faction’s influence. Faced with an inevitable defeat, Cayetano stepped away from the highest seat in the chamber. But his departure came with a telling condition: his allies must retain control of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee — the chamber’s most potent instrument of investigation and political pressure.
