Ozzy Osbourne Heavy Metal Icon Dies
One of Rock N’ Roll and Heavy Metal’s most iconic and legendary figures, Ozzy Osbourne dies at age 76.
In a family statement on July 22 (U.K time), “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.
We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time”.
Also known as the Prince of Darkness and the Godfather of Heavy Metal, Osbourne started his career in the 1960s. With guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward, and bassist Geezer Butler, they co-founded Black Sabbath with Osbourne as the lead vocalist. In the 1970s, they pioneered the Heavy Metal genre, with songs such as “Paranoid”, “Iron Man”, “War Pigs”, and “N.I.B”.


In 1979, Osbourne was removed from Black Sabbath and embarked on a successful solo career with hit songs such as “Crazy Train”, “Bark at the Moon”, “Mr. Crowley “No More Tears” and a lot more. Osbourne would also launched a music festival known as Ozzfest.

Osbourne would later return with Black Sabbath in the late 90s and 2000s, later having a final tour titled “The End”. Osbourne also became a reality TV star with his worldwide hit and Emmy winning MTV show “The Osbournes”.
In 2005 Osbourne was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame both as a solo artist and as a member of Black Sabbath. In the next year, he was inducted into the U.S Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with his Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, and Geezer Butler.
In 2019, Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. The following year, Osbourne released his 12th studio album titled “Ordinary Man” his first in ten years. In 2022, he released “Patient Number 9” his 13th and final studio album. In 2024, for his solo career, Osbourne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath held their final concert titled “Back To The Beginning” on July 5, 2025 at Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham, England, very near where the band was formed. The concert was a success with other acts such as Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Alice in Chains, Gojira, Slayer, Anthrax, and many more.

He was survived by his wife Sharon, and his children media personalities and singers Jack, Kelly, and Aimee. And leaving behind a legacy in music.
