- Sara’s antics of impeachment may be a predicate for her resignation and running for mayor of Davao City or house representative. Resigning now and seeking another position may be her best way to a presidential run in 2028.
There is something about the vice president.
She complains, complains, and complains. In almost everything she complains about, she is part of the problem she is talking about.
Even the book she supposedly wrote and planned on distributing to school children, ‘Isang Kaibigan,’ has problems. A friend in need is a friend indeed, di ba? Then she flew like an owl at the height of the habagat and typhoon Carina-induced floods in Metro Manila.
She complained about the lack of a flood control master plan. Ah kaya pala umalis for Germany. She knows when it pours, it floods relentlessly. How many years have the Dutertes been lording over Davao City? How many years ba naging presidente tatay nya? Why is Davao City flooded every so often? Did the former president also ever think of a flood control master plan?
She complained of a lack of police personnel in certain parts of the country. She also complained about why 75 police personnel in her security detail were recalled. She still has around 400 bodyguards.
She complained of foreign domination in the country. She is the ‘Ang Kaibigan’ of China, which is stealing from us the West Philippine Sea.
She complained that Sen. Risa Hontiveros politicized her line of questioning in the budget hearing. And then she ranted about how the senator asked for her support in past elections. Inday is a collector of political debt of gratitude. In Bisaya, we call that pamoyboy.
Then, she held a press conference. Among the things she announced was the information from their allies in the House—meron pa kaming supporters—that an impeachment complaint was being prepared against her.
Beh, buti nga. But.
However, I doubt the possibility of any serious impeachment plan against her now. There is no more time. She ought to know that no impeachment can be allowed a year before an election and within one year after an election. She is a lawyer.
It is becoming obvious now that the vice president and her family are playing the underdog card. When the ICC comes, they will project her father as a martyr.
The people should be discerning. Based on at least three recent surveys, SWS, OCTA, and Oculom, there indeed may be an awakening.
SWS saw a 19-point dip in the vice president’s net satisfaction rating from 63% in March this year to 44% last June. Sara had a net satisfaction rating of 73% in December 2023, meaning she declined 29 points in the last three quarters.
OCTA saw a four-point decrease in people’s support for the Dutertes and their allies from 20% to 16% in the period from March to June 2024. This survey saw an increase in the president’s trust rating from 31 – 36% and rated the undecided at 31%. Could it be that the significant number of the undecided comes from the Dutertes?
Oculum think-tank’s survey on voters’ preference for president saw the vice president’s numbers dip from 42 – 25.4% or an 18.5% slip.
I heard insider reports that the VP is very serious about her ambition to be the president. Never mind her I-don’t-care projection. That is just part of the act. Too much projection of one’s ambition turns off the people.
I think Sara’s impending impeachment antics may be a predicate for her resignation and running for mayor of Davao City or house representative. Resigning now and seeking another position may be her best way to a presidential run in 2028.
If she remains vice president, an impeachment, maybe in the latter half of 2026, is the real sucker. Conviction in an impeachment disqualifies one for life from public office.
I hope the VP continues to flaunt her ultra-high sense of entitlement and the belief that she is a princess. I also hope she kicks her inept PR team and her writers.
Let her stand up for herself: no prepared speeches and statements, only her extemporaneously.
