Labor Organizations Protests Wage Order 25

on

Various labor organizations lead by the Bukluran ng Mangagawang Pilipino (BMB) held simultaneous protects actions in NCR, Regions 4A, 6, and 7 in front of offices in various Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) last July 10, 2024 on. These workers groups reiterate that the current wage increase is now enough. Citing the Wage Rationalization Act (RA6727) enacted in 1989 as the source of the problem, the group asserts that this act was designed to create a uniform wage system across the country. However, to the BMP and countless workers, it has been a tool that prioritizes the capacity of employers to pay over the fundamental right of workers to earn a living wage. The BMP asserts that this legislation has consistently failed to address the stark realities faced by the labor force.

The NCR wage board issued Wage Order NCR-25 on June 27, 2024 providing an increase of P35, bringing the daily minimum wage in the region from P610 to P645 for workers in the non-agriculture sector and from P573 to P608 for those in the agriculture sector, service and retail establishments employing 15 or less workers, and manufacturing establishments regularly employing less than 10 workers.

Here is a coverage of the Current PH Team composed of our On-the-Job Trainees (OJT) of the protect actions held in the RTWPB NCR Office in the City of Manila
