TWO crew members of a fishing vessel that sank off Cuyo, Eastern Palawan after catching fire was hurt, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Monday.
According to the PCG, they, along with several personnel from the Cuyo Police and the fisherfolk from the Frabelle Fishing Corporation, immediately responded to the emergency after they received a report of a fire that hit FV Victory 89.
However, the PCG said that the fiber-made boat eventually sank.
The PCG also said that two of the crew members sustained first-degree burns.
The PCG personnel then immediately put out oil spill booms in the area to ensure that the vessel would not cause any environmental damage.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
