PNP identified DLSU student killer; manhunt operations conducted

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has launched a massive manhunt for the suspect in the robbery with homicide case that killed Queen Leanne Daguinsin, a student of La Salle University in Dasmariñas City, Cavite on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

The suspect has been identified as Angelito Erlano, also known as “Kulet”, a resident of Brgy. San Nicolas 2, Dasmariñas City, Cavite.

Updates from the Dasmariñas City Police Station disclosed that a follow-up operation was conducted by the operatives of Dasmariñas City Police Station and Cavite Provincial Intelligence Unit which led to the identification of the suspect’s house on March 29, 2023, at around 11:30 PM, in Brgy. San Nicholas 2, Dasmarinas City, Cavite, through the backtracking of CCTV footages.

During the follow-up operation, the police recovered a black shirt with a white stripe and a blue t-shirt marked with a trademark eagle, believed to have been used by the suspect during the commission of the crime. They also found a black backpack with a Sena brand, believed to be owned by the victim.

The PNP tracker teams are still in the area for continuing hot pursuit operations for the possible arrest of the suspect while a case build-up is underway by the Dasmariñas City Police Station for the filing of appropriate case against the perpetrator.

According to the records, the suspect had previous involvement in other robbery cases.

PNP Chief General Rodolfo S Azurin, Jr. assured the public that the PNP is doing everything in its authority to arrest the suspect. He said, “We condemn this heinous crime and we will not stop until the perpetrator will be put behind bars. We call on the public to cooperate with the authorities and report any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect.

The SITG “DAGUINSIN” convened on March 31, 2023, at 9:00 AM, to discuss developments in the case build-up.                              

The PNP assured the public that it remains committed to maintaining peace and order, observance of human rights and ensuring justice for the victim and her family.
