CDRRMO says 27 infrastructures damaged by quake

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) of Masbate said that based on their initial assessment, some 27 infrastructures have been recorded to have sustained minor damage due to the magnitude 6.0 earthquake on Thursday.

According to CDRRMO head Isaias Bigol Jr. they conducted an inspection on 57 critical structures.

“Meron po tayong more or less 27 po, if I’m not mistaken, na critical infrastructures na may minor damage,” he said.

Among those noted were cracked walls and floors. There were also shattered windows.

There were also several houses that were slightly damaged due to the earthquake.

Bigol meanwhile said that several establishments in the known tourist spot Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary were seen to have sustained cracks on their beams.

Classes and work were suspended until Friday.

The magnitude 6.0 earthquake was recorded by state seismologists southwest of Batuan at 2:10 a.m. on Thursday.

PHIVOLCS said the quake was tectonic in origin with a depth of 10 kilometers.
