Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will not run for president in 2022 under the PDP-Laban, according to her spokesperson.

This, as Liloan Mayor Christina Garcia Frasco was reacting to an earlier statement made by PDP-Laban president and Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi that Sara Duterte becoming the standard bearer of the ruling party was a “possibility.”

”Mayor Sara Duterte has already filed her certificate of candidacy for mayor. Not being a member of PDP-Laban, she is not privy to the party’s sudden change of plans,” Frasco said in a text message to a national daily.

“Mayor Sara has no intention of becoming a member of PDP or of being its standard bearer now or in the near future,” she added.

No less than President Rodrigo Duterte said his daughter will pair with Senator Christopher “Bong” Go for the two top government posts in the May 9, 2022 elections.

Sara Duterte still emerged as the top pick among the preferred presidential candidates in the 2022 elections, according to the latest pre-election survey conducted by private polling firm Pulse Asia.

Pulse Asia’s Sept. 6 to 11 poll found that 20 percent of 2,400 adult Filipinos have expressed support for Sara’s potential presidential bid.

She earned the highest support from respondents in her bailiwick, Mindanao (47 percent), followed by the Visayas (23 percent), Metro Manila (12 percent), and Balance Luzon (8 percent).
