Three familiar names in the political arena are seeking seats for the Senate in the 2022 polls.

They are Senator Ana Theresia “Risa” Hontiveros, and former senators Loren Legarda and Chiz Escudero. Legarda is currently Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and represents Antique, while Escudero is the governor of Sorsogon.

Hontiveros is seeking a second term as senator while Legarda and Escudero are making a comeback to the Senate.

Meanwhile, a former Laguna town mayor whose life was portrayed in a movie, Abner Afuang is also seeking a Senate sea.

The others who filed their candidacies for a Senate seat on Friday were Lutgardo Barba, Bay Maylanie Esmael, Norman Marquez, Bertito del Mundo, Romeo Plasquite, Samuel Sanchez, Baldomero Falcone, Phil delos Reyes, Ziegfried “Tapzlord” Giron and Agnes Afable.

A total of 12 Senate seats are up for grabs in 2022.

For the mayoral race in Metro Manila, Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto filed his candidacy for reelection in 2022. He was accompanied by parents Connie Reyes and Vic Sotto

For the party-list race, a total of filed their list of nominees: ACT-CIS, AGAP, Kabayan, An-Waray, DIWA, Pilipinas Para sa Pinoy, Alona, TODA, Cancer, People’s Volunteer Against illegal Drugs, 1-Pacman, Marino, Ako Tanod, Ang Probinsyano, PBA, COOP-NATCCO, WACCAA, and 1-Rider.
