With only a few days left before the filing of candidacies for the 2022 polls, Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo failed to get the commitment of Senators Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao, and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso to unite for next year’s polls.
Based on reports, Robredo felt “heartbroken” over failing to get the commitments of the three presidential candidates.
For his part, Domagoso said the doors of his party, Aksyon Demokratiko, are still open to anybody including active Cabinet secretaries of the Duterte administration.
“This is about the people and you cannot govern, with these types of problems that we’re facing right now, on your own. So, I would rather continue to talk and try to be reasonable with those we know, with our fellow public servants. At the end of the day, it is our countrymen with whom we are dealing with. But just the same we will continue to reach and be reasonable to all sectors – business, institution, organizations and of course parties,” he said.
Domagoso’s running mate for the 2022 is health advocate Dr. Willie Ong.
Robredo has yet to officially declare his political plans for 2022 but is under pressure to unit the opposition.
