The tandem of Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III are not backing out from the 2022 national polls, the Partido Reporma said.

The party is warning of “an ongoing misinformation campaign claiming allegedly that Sen. Panfilo Lacson has or is withdrawing his candidacy for president in the May 2022 election. Nothing could be further from the truth,” Ashley Acedillo, Partido Reporma spokesperson, said.

“On the contrary, the Lacson-Sotto tandem has been full speed ahead and has only been growing from strength to strength,” he added.

“Both putative candidates have been laying the groundwork and have demonstrated, this early, that among those running for the top two highest elected positions of the land, they are the most prepared and the most capable to lead this country,” Acedillo added.

Lacson and Sotto formally declared their tandem last September 8.

Talks of a number of presidential candidates sliding to vice president or giving up their presidential bids became quite rife after talks of the opposition working to form a united front against whoever ends up representing the current Duterte administration in 2022.

Talks for the united opposition was recently convened by 1Sambayan with Sen. Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo. Domagoso has made it very clear that he will not give up his presidential bid for 2022 with running mate Dr. Willie Ong.
