A new urban poor group is backing the presidential bid of Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso in the 2022 polls.

Launched over the weekend was the “Pinoy Ako, Isko Tayo” at the Lupang Arenda in Taytay, Rizal.

“The aim of the group to serve as the primary vehicle for the campaign in Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao towards victory and genuine change,” the group’s lead convenor Mik Rivera said in Filipino.

“What we want to assure is every voice and plea of our small countrymen will be heard, whatever part of the country or the world they are, regardless of color, religion, social status, and gender,” he added also in Filipino.

Rivera said that residents in the area where the group was launched were given promises and false hopes by politicians that never materialized, like free housing.

Earlier, at least 23 local leader and a group of young lawyers expressed their full support for Domagoso’s 2022 presidential bid.

Domagoso will be running under Aksyon Demokratiko with health advocate and 2019 senatorial candidate Dr. Willie Ong as his vice president.

And while Domagoso has been approached by certain political personalities to form a unified opposition for 2022, the Manila mayor said he will not slide down to vice president in 2022 or replace his running mate.
