Lacson, Sotto not bothered by emergence of more tandems for 2022

The tandem of Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Senate President Vicento “Tito” Sotto 3rd are not bothered by the other pairings that have officially proclaimed their respective bids for the 2022 national polls.

Lacson is running for president with Sotto as his running mate in 2022 under the Partido Reporma party.

Instead of being bothered by the proclamation of other tandems for 2022, a national daily reported that Sotto and Lacson are “focused on their program of government and campaign.”

“It does not matter to us who else is running,” Sotto said.

Meanwhile, Lacson said that “as much as possible, we won’t mind or comment on the other tandems.”

“Instead, we will continue to present ourselves worthy of the trust and support of our people, even after winning the election next year, if it comes to that,” he said.

“We have committed the last chapter of our long public service with nothing more in mind except to uplift the lives of our people and steer our country from self-pity to dignity,” Lacson added.

Lacson and Sotto officially proclaimed their tandem last September 8. Prior to that, they had talks with Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao and Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo.

Pacquiao has already accepted the nomination of the faction of Senator Aquilino Pimentel 3rd in the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan to run for president in 2022, while Robredo has yet to formally reveal her plans for next year’s polls.
