PH logs new record for daily Covid cases at 22,415

The Department of Health (DOH) tallied a new daily record for Covid-19 cases or 22,415 on Monday, pushing the number of total cases to 2.103 million since the start of the pandemic last year.

Meanwhile, the nation’s overall tally of Covid-19 patients who beat the disease reached 1.909 million as 20,109 new recoveries were recorded also on Monday.

The Department of Health (DOH) said the figure is equivalent to a 90.8-percent recovery rate,

The 22,415 new confirmed cases also brought the total number of active cases in the country to 159,633 or 7.6 percent of all cases.

Of the active cases, 92.1 percent are mild, 3.3 percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent are severe, 2.48 percent are moderate, and 0.6 percent are in critical condition.

Also logged were 103 new fatalities, raising the death toll to 34,337 or 1.63 percent of the total cases.

The DOH said 68 duplicates were removed from the total case count as 53 of those were actually recoveries.

Meanwhile, seven cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

According to DOH data on Sept. 4, about 28.8 percent of 73,264 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.

All laboratories were operational on Sept. 4 while eight laboratories were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

Based on data in the last 14 days, the eight non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 2.3 percent of samples tested and 2.3 percent of positive individuals.

To date, 76 percent of 4,200 intensive care unit beds, 66 percent of 20,300 isolation beds, 72 percent of 15,400 ward beds, and 57 percent of 3,300 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use nationwide.

In Metro Manila, 73 percent of 1,400 intensive care unit beds, 63 percent of 4,600 isolation beds, 74 percent of 4,300 ward beds, and 63 percent of 1,200 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are being used.
