The Manila City government registered another near perfect second dose vaccination rate after 96.94 percent of the 24,930 target individuals showed up to get fully vaccinated in the city’s different vaccination sites on Tuesday.

The Manila Health Department (MHD) said 24,166 residents returned for their scheduled second dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso said this as a good sign that people really wanted to get fully protected from Covid-19.

“Minsan nga naka 102 percent pa tayo (Sometimes, we even recorded 102 percent), it’s a very good sign,” Domagoso said in a media interview on Wednesday.

As of 8 p.m. Tuesday, the country’s capital has administered a total of 1,063,934 doses of Covid-19 vaccine.

Of this number, 683,796 individuals have been vaccinated with first dose while 380,138 have received their second dose.

On Tuesday, the city also administered a record-high 44,077 vaccines in a single day.

Despite heavy rains, Manila residents lined up in the city’s different vaccination centers on Wednesday to receive their Covid-19 jabs.

“Rain and flooding will not stop us dahil hindi din nagpapahinga si Covid-19 (because Covid-19 is not also resting),” Domagoso said.

Several areas in Metro Manila were inundated Wednesday in floodwaters due to heavy rains brought about by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Fabian.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Wednesday advised residents of Metro Manila and Cavite to prepare for heavy rains after the areas were placed on orange (intense) rainfall warning due to southwest monsoon enhanced by “Fabian.
