The president of transport group Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (FEJODAP), Zenaida “Zeny” Maranan has passed away, her family confirmed on Sunday.
She was 75.
Maranan’s family said the transport leader died peacefully in her sleep while being confined in a hospital due to a lingering illness.
“(Maranan) passed away peacefully in her sleep, after being confined in a local hospital due to a lingering illness. Her family requesting for privacy in this time of grieving,” the family said.
“Her remains will be [available] for public viewing on Monday until Tuesday at the Haven of Angels Memorial Chapels and Crematorium along Sumulong Highway, Antipolo,” it added.
Maranan’s nephew-in-law and the family’s representative Ronald Zapanta said that Maranan passed away on Saturday afternoon at about 5 p.m. due to cardiac arrest.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Undersecretary Jojo Garcia said Maranan’s passing is a big loss to the transport sector.
“Nakikiramay tayo sa pamilya ni Ma’am Zeny Maranan…Malaking kawalan po sa ating tranportasyon, ‘yung mga kumakatawan po, ‘yung pagkawala po ni Ma’am Zeny,” Garcia said./Stacy Ang
