Mighty Sports Philippines stays undefeated, crushes Syria’s Al Wathba to advance in Dubai semis


MANILA, Philippines — Mighty Sports Philippines is headed to the semifinals of the 31st Dubai International Basketball Championship with an 88-71 romp of Al Wathba Sports Club on Thursday, 2020 January 30 (Friday, January 31, Philippine time).

Six players scored in double figures for Mighty Sports Philippines as it remain undefeated with its fifth consecutive victory in the league.

McKenzie Moore lead the Philippine team with 15 points off the bench, while Renaldo Balkman and Andray Blatche added 13 and 12, respectively.

Jamie Malonzo also did his damage as he contributed 11 points, two boards, and two assists, while Juan Gomez de Liaño and Thirdy Ravena both had 10.

On the other hand, Robert Daniels was the lone bright spot for the Syrian team as he produced 36 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals in a losing effort.

Mighty Sports next opponent will be the Moroccan club Salé, which defeated the UAE National Team, 85-80, earlier in the day. The last time these two teams faced off, Mighty Sports lost 83-75 last year.
