MANILA, Philippines – Mayor Isko Moreno this city has declared the cop who gallantly died following an armed encounter recently a hero even as the city government donated P300,000 financial assistance to the bereaved family.

According to the spot report, Bombase sustained four gunshot wounds after engaging into an armed encounter with notorious robbery-carnapping suspects along the PNR railway in Antipolo St. corner Tomas Mapua in Barangay Sta. Cruz last Wednesday, December 11.

He was immediately rushed to Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Hospital for treatment.

Attending physicians, however, declared him dead at around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, December 15.

During Monday’s flag-raising ceremony, Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso led the offering of one-minute silence for the soul of Cpl. Bombase.

The Mayor also announced that the city government has provided P300,000 worth of financial assistance to the hero cop’s bereaved family.

“Nakakalungkot na mamatayan ng pulis lalo na at pinagtanggol niya lang ang kanyang sarili at tinupad lang niya ang kanyang tungkulin,” Domagoso said.

“Nalulungkot po tayo at ang sampu ng ating mga kapatid ng pamahalaang Lungsod ay kami po ay nakikidalamhati sa pamilya Bombase,” the Mayor said. (IAMIGO/BENJIE CUARESMA/CNS)
