High-grade ‘Kush’ Marijuana sent by mail recovered; claimant arrested

In coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Customs NAIA has intercepted a humongous mail parcel of high-grade Kush Marijuana disguised as sealed baby Marvel Comics sleeping bags.

Anti-drug enforcers said the shipment, worth P1.8 million and a little over one kilo, was sent via CMEC or Central Mail Exchange to an address at 12 P. Mariano St., Taguig City on which the claimant, identified as one Joseph Mark Tamo, was arrested.

According to operatives, the sender of the suspect “Marvel Comic Child Sleeping Bag” from California, USA was a certain James Barstow bearing an address: 4318 Pleasant Hill Rd., Kelso, WA 98628 USA.

Violation of R.A. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) and R.A. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act) was slapped on the suspect-claimant. (Jimmy Carbo/BENJIE CUARESMA/IAMIGO)
