
Undersecretary for High Value Crops of the Department of Agriculture Evelyn Lavina lauded the 10 winners during the awarding ceremony recently of the Ten Outstanding Coffee Farmers at the Indonesian Embassy in Makati City.
The rare accolade went to Allan Canam and Catherine Alipit -Canam (Luzon), Ronald Pena (Cavite), Jennifer Rimando (Mt. Province), Jonecey Tomilas (Nueva Vizcaya), Joy Canete (Visayas), Christian Romay (Negros Occidental), Chris Tutanes (Sultan Kudarat), and Jocelyn Mamar (Davao Del Sur).
Aside from the citation, the top Ten Filipino Coffee farmers also received training grants to expand their knowledge and skills on coffee farming and processing to further boost their productivity and help arrest the declining supply locally-grown coffee.
The training grant is a joint project of the Department of Agriculture, the Philippine Coffee Board, Indonesian food and beverage manufacturer PT Mayora Indah TBK and the Embassy of Indonesia in the Philippines. (Mike Taboy/Benjie Cuaresma/IAMIGO.CNS)
