PH now in SEAG men’s volleyball semis

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine men’s volleyball team continued its march, beating Vietnam in straight sets, 25-20, 25-21, 25-12, to book a seat in the semifinals in the 30th Southeast Asian Games on Wednesday, 05 November 2019, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Bryan Bagunas hammered 22 points off 17 kills, three aces and two kill blocks while Marck Espejo tallied 17 points on 11 spikes as well as 13 receptions and seven excellent sets.

Team captain John Vic De Guzman, Kim Malabunga and Francis Saura got seven points apiece to help the host country in their offense, while setter Joshua Retamar tallied 17 excellent sets.

Dinh Nhu Nguyen top-scored for Vietnam after scoring15 but no other player reached double-figures.

Team Philippines will take on reigning silver medalist and also unbeaten in two games Indonesia to close the group stage in the Final Four. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/CNS)
