Manila, Philippines — Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go gave an assurance Filipino nurses would be afforded the necessary salary hike they need along with other benefits.
“Malaki ang diperensiya ng suweldo sa abroad at dito, pero nais kong dito na kayo magtrabaho para hindi kayo malayo sa mga pamilya ninyo,” he said.
Lawmakers from Davao City said he was defending the Department of Health’s (DOH) budget increase in budget deliberations to ensure quality and accessible healthcare for all Filipinos, and to monitor the welfare of health workers, including nurses.
The senator said he filed a resolution aimed at increasing the salaries of civilian government employees, including nurses.
Sen. Go the chair of the Senate Committee on Health, said he will continue to make the welfare of nurses in the country a priority so they can never think of working abroad. (Cate Pallarco/IAMIGO/CNS)
