Duterte doubts China has control on PH’s power supply

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has only brushed aside and ignored the news claiming China has a stranglehold on the Philippines’ power supply.

Reports have it that China can allegedly shut down as it pleases the country’s national power supply in one, single stroke as it holds a 40% share of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

The 60 percent is also said to be controlled by Filipino-Chinese businessmen.

But President Duterte countered saying he doesn’t believe in anything that (Justice Antonio) Carpio says.

The former Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio is a prominent critic of the administration.

According to President Duterte, “Carpio is so obsessed with China that he pretends to be Pro-Filipino, and he even looks more Chinese and almost resembles Mao Zedong.”

President Duterte said that if ever “there are any security issues here in the Philippines, the military would be able to handle it.” (Marian Sinamban/IAMIGO/CNS)
