MANILA, Philippines – Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has on Friday (29 November 2019) assured constituents the local government is to further strengthen its provision of social services especially to less fortunate residents of the city.

This came on the heels of the QC Council approval of the P27.8 billion budget for next year or 23 percent higher than the P21.5 billion budget this 2019.

Of that budget, social services accounted for the largest share of funds with P12.3 billion or 44 percent of the total budget by 2020.

As of 2019, the local government has just a total of P8.4-billion for social services.

As a result, Mayor Belmonte said that with a higher budget on social services, the provision of higher quality programs will greatly provide real and better services including education and health care.

In fact, Belmonte said, “this is a step forward in which the leadership can further enhance the well-being and livelihood of the QC people.” (Gelica Paulo/IAMIGO/CNS)
