MANILA, Philippines — By mid-year next year, the nationwide national identification registration or the Philippine Identification System (Philsys) will finally be introduced.
According to Marc Laurente, Philsys project development officer of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), all aspects of the implementation of Republic Act 11055 were finalized after President Rodrigo Duterte signed them in August 2018.
Under the National Identification System (Philsys), identification cards should only be displayed and there is no need for a lot of other IDs when dealing with the government.
According to the PSA timeline, 110 million Filipinos are expected to have national ID by 2022. (Cate Pallarco/IAMIGO/CNS)
