MANILA, Philippines – It could have been an advantage but the Caloocan Victory Liner Supremos simply bungled basket chances and fumbled at their homecourt as they absorbed a 27-point (63-90) drubbing at the hands of guest Iloilo United Royals in the MPBL Lakan Conference at the Caloocan Sports Complex Tuesday night.
And no one bravely took the blame but Caloocan coach John Kallos himself posted publicly on his Facebook account.
“To all our supporters and fans, I’m sorry we lost,” Kallos said. “We played really bad as a whole team. I take the blame for that loss. We will bounce back. Thank you, Papa God you still kept my team intact.”
At the same time, however, Kallos poked at their supporters: “If you can’t support us when we lose, don’t support us when we win.”
With the loss at home, the Supremos dropped to 14-10 while the visiting Royals improved to 14-8 with their fifth straight win. Caloocan Supremos had their three-game winning streak snapped.
In the triple bill’s second game, Novotas Uni-Pak Sardines atone for their loss previously to Caloocan with an 89-83 win over Muntinlupa Cagers while other games.
In the game opener, Zamboanga Family’s Brand Sardines prevailed over Mindoro Tamaraws with an 84-64 blowout win.
Despite the loss, however, Caloocan Victory Liner Supremo’s supporters remain positive their team is still very much capable of atoning that huge blowout setback that saw their three-game streak snapped.
“Nice game boss. Alam kong kayang-kaya mag-bounce back on your next game…more wins to come. God bless to the Supremos,” one Jimmy Ramirez said on his FB comment. (ISMAEL AMIGO/CNS)
