Philippine women’s football team suffer similar billeting inconvenience

MANILA, Philippines – Foreign football teams complained about billeting inconvenience and to top it all, the country’s very own women’s football players also suffered a similar disheartening experience after checking in at their assigned hotel in Binan, Laguna for the 30th Southeast Asian Games later in the day Sunday (24 November 2019).

Fil-Am player Hali Long narrated their team’s distressing experience upon their arrival at their hotel in Laguna where they accordingly waited for three hours on the hotel lobby and later to a function room while their hotel rooms were being prepared.

The Fil-Am member who studies at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, Arkansas in the United States, posted photos on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter about the woeful treatment their team got courtesy of host Philippines.

“Arrived at our SEAG hotel at 11:30 am. The rooms weren’t ready yet, so we ate lunch while they fixed our rooms. Instead of two (2) persons per room, we’ve adjusted to 4-5 per room,” said Long.

“It’s now 2:15 pm and the rooms aren’t ready. They moved us to a function room, so we wouldn’t crowd the lobby for other arriving teams,” she added.

“Sad that we’re the host team and this is how we’re being treated. I can’t imagine how other countries must feel,” rued Long.

Earlier in the day Sunday, football teams from Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and Timor Leste complained to organizers similar incidents of troublesomeness from long processing of papers at the airport to crammed conveyance and being brought to the wrong hotel. (LO/IAMIGO/CNS)
