New Clark City ready for 30th SEAG

In what could be a punctuation mark to New Clark City’s readiness to host the 30th Southeast Asian Games, triathlete Senator Pia Cayetano tries out the indoor warm-up track of the New Clark City Athletics Stadium as she trains with members of the national heptathlon team in this photo op taken Thursday, 21 November 2019.

Complete with 5-star amenities and top of the line sporting venues, the NCC is the main hub of the 30th SEAG the country is hosting starting next Saturday, 30 November 2019 through 11 December 2019.

For more chances of winning gold, the host country Philippines is fielding in more than 1,000 athletes the Philippine Olympics Committee said.

When the country last hosted the SEA Games in 2005, a total of 892 athletes were fielded in 40 sports that offered 443 gold medals and the host nationals won the overall title with 113 gold, 84 silver, and 94 bronze medals.

This time, the PHISGOC has penciled a record of 56 sports and 523 events. (IAMIGO/CNS)
