Tondo drug den dismantled, 5 arrested including 57-year-old female maintainer

MANILA, Philippines — By virtue of a search warrant issued by the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 18, anti-narcotics operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-National Capital Region successfully dismantled the pernicious operation of a drug den in Tondo, Manila Wednesday morning (November 20, 2019).

Director III Joel B Plaza, Regional Director of PDEA-NCR identified the five (5) arrested suspects as Corazon Angeles y Santos, AKA “Azon (57, alleged drug den maintainer); Josefina Puno, AKA “Ising”(50); Julie Angeles, (49); Dario Monton (43) and Regio Puno y Soriano (33).

Aside from PDEA-NCR, Manila District Office (MDO), Northern District Office and Manila Police District (MPD) Station 1, co-implemented the search warrant at around 8 a.m. at the residence of Corazon Angeles at #363 Capulong Street, Barangay 93 Tondo, Manila following several reports of illegal drug trade activity in their community.

Confiscated and seized during the operation were eleven (11) pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine hydrochloride also known as “shabu” weighing more or less fifteen (15) grams with a standard drug price of Php 102,000.00 pesos and several drug paraphernalia.

Violation of Section 6 (Maintenance of Drug Den), Section 7 (Visitors of a Drug Den), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia) of Article II of the Republic Act 9165 or “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” we slapped against the suspects.
