MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested two Chinese nationals involved in economic crimes.

According to a report received by BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, the BI fugitive search unit (FSU) operatives first arrested one of the foreigners, Chen Yanhua, 56, at a five-star hotel in Parañaque City on November 17, 2019.

He said a deportation warrant was issued against Chen following his arrest after the agency gathered vital information of his whereabouts and intensive surveillance on his activities.

Meanwhile, Bobby Raquepo, chief of BI FSU, said another Chinese Xu Xiaojun, 34, was also arrested at a restaurant in Baclaran, Parañaque City the other day.

Xu is wanted in China for alleged bank card fraud.

Raquepo said they received information from Chinese authorities about his crimes. As a result, he said they immediately filed a case buildup and issued a mission order from Morente against Xu.

The Chinese government also canceled their passports.

Currently, both are detained at the BI detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City for the deportation process.

Chen and Xu are now blacklisted in the agency. (Chris Figueroa/IAMIGO/CNS)
