Phisgoc might employ ‘Plan B’ for RMSC if refurbishing works won’t be completed

on

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) said Friday (15 November 2019) it is preparing a contingency plan in case the refurbishing works at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (RMSC) in Malate, Manila will not be completed on time.

Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William “Butch” Ramirez earlier assured that the venues would reach its deadline.

Supposedly, the turnover of the refurbished RMSC was to be made by the contractor last Wednesday, 13 November 2019.

More than 250 construction workers have been working 24 hours to finish the renovation works over at the said venue.

Only two more weeks remain before the official opening of the 30th Southeast Asian Games but the RMSC venue still needs finishing touches.

Taekwondo and weightlifting will be played at Ninoy Aquino Stadium while other sports such as football will be held at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

Lawn tennis, soft tennis, squash and gymnastics will also be played at the RMSC.

In case RMSC’s renovation won’t be finished on time, Phisgoc is already preparing several venues for events that might be affected.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will also play a crucial part in the biennial games as it will accordingly deploy hundreds of personnel to ensure the safety of all SEA Games attendees. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/CNS)
