To the beat of a whistle, members of Pasay City’s police force and employees simultaneously “duck, cover and hold” in Thursday’s timely earthquake drills.
As it had been introduced by the MMDA and other safety agencies like the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the same are being taught to “duck down to the floor, take cover under a sturdy table or desk, and hold on until the shaking stops” when the real thing occurs. It is also being introduced to “avoid danger spots near windows, hanging objects, mirrors, or tall furniture.” And if one is to take cover, it should be under a sturdy piece of furniture, then hold on to it and be prepared to move with it.
