The Manila Police District (MPD) said on Tuesday they are looking into the possibility that the killing of a Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) employee was related to her profession.

Manila Police District (MPD) acting director Police Brigadier General Bernabe Balba said authorities are coordinating with the relatives of victim Helen Dacanay to check if the victim received death threats before the incident.

Dacanay was the senior officer of DOLE-National Capital Region.

“We are looking into the possibility na job-related because we have already interviewed the family and we have not yet seen at the moment kung it has an angle of personal,” Balba said during a press conference.

“Most of our investigation now are focused on the cases being handled by the deceased,” Balba said.

Police have appealed to the public to help them identify and locate four persons of interest.

Balba also said they have witnesses who could help them in identifying the persons of interest.

On November 4, Dacanay was ambushed by unidentified men along Malvar Street near corner Singalong Street in Paco, Manila.

Dacanay was rushed to the Ospital Ng Maynila but was pronounced dead on arrival.
