FEU outguns UE, secures 7th straight Final 4 slot

ANTIPOLO, Philippines – Far Eastern University just secured a historic seventh straight Final Four appearance after repealing a fighting University of the East side, 82-58, on Sunday, 27 October 2019, in the 82nd UAAP Men’s Basketball tournament at the Ynares Center.

The Tamaraws threw their might against the UE Red Warriors deep in the second quarter that allowed them to head into the break with a 40-26 cushion.

Ino Comboy, who came away hot from the bench, finished with 17 points. He also had an impressive 5-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc aside from four rebounds for the Tamaraws.

Royce Alforque had 13 points and 3 assists, while sophomore guard LJ Gonzales had 12 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.

Rey Suerte had 16 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and four assists to lead the Red Warriors, while Alex Diakhite contributed 13 points and 10 boards.

The Warriors had a poor 28.77% from the field even as they allowed the FEU Tamaraws to make 45.8% of their attempts from the field.

The loss was the Red Warriors’ fifth straight and dropped to 3-10 slate. UE ends the season with a game against the National University on Wednesday. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/CNS)
