MANILA, Philippines – Outgoing Manila Police District Director Police Brigadier General Vicente Danao Jr. has on Monday, 21 October 2019, bade farewell and lauded MPD employees for their support during his stay at Manila’s Finest.
In his speech that followed the regular Monday flag-raising ceremony, the outgoing MPD Director praised employees and the entire police force under his watch of less than a year for “a job well done” and their support during his term of office.
The former cop of Davao said he had reservations on accepting his appointment back then as MPD director because of the myriad of problems and challenges line up before him that needs immediate action and solution.
Danao admitted the prevalence of illegal drugs, corruption on the ranks of the police force were among the biggest challenges on his plate before aside from the negative and demoralizing effect of “Ninja Cops” on the whole spectrum of the police force.
Nevertheless, Danao said he weathered them all during his tour of duty of 11 months and 13 days even as he managed to maintain high morale for the District, which also has its own share of controversies at times.
As a result of a recent PNP revamp, Danao will soon assume Regional Director in Calabarzon. (Jimmy Mendoza/BCuaresma/IAmigo/CNS)
