Kanlaon Volcano Erupts Again, Alert Level 2 Remains
Kanlaon Volcano erupted on the morning of September 10, 2025, emitting a plume of ash that affected surrounding areas in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental. PHIVOLCS has maintained Alert Level 2, indicating the volcano’s instability and the potential for further eruptions.
The recent ash emission disrupted local communities, with authorities working to clear ashfall from roads and assess damage to agriculture. Although ashfall has subsided, the region remains on high alert, with constant monitoring of volcanic activity.
This eruption follows similar activity earlier in the week, prompting concerns among residents and local officials. No major injuries have been reported, but evacuation efforts are ongoing to ensure safety. PHIVOLCS warns that the volcano could produce larger eruptions in the coming days.
Experts urge people within a 4-kilometer radius of the summit to stay indoors to avoid ash exposure. Authorities continue to closely monitor the situation, with advisories to be followed for safety.
