Taal Volcano Possible Eruption
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or PHILVOLCS has warned of another possible eruption of Taal Volcano.
According to the agency, the real-time seismic energy measurement or RSAM is high this Sunday, August 10, in which a total of 19 Volcanic earthquake was recorded since August 9.
“These sharp increase in RSAM and vigorous steaming from the main crater may lead to a phreatic or even a minor phreatomagmatic eruption,” as said in a PHILVOLCS statement.
“DOST-PHIVOLCS strongly recommends that entry into [Taal Volcano Island], Taal’s Permanent Danger Zone or PDZ, especially the vicinities of the Main Crater and the Daang Kastila fissure must remain strictly prohibited”. Added by the agency
Though in an alert level 1, the situation is currently monitored any sudden changes.
