While I don’t believe that a significant portion of our military would consider such actions, I am more inclined to suspect that those seeking to destabilize our government are covert agitators or locals with sympathies for China. They may even be members of criminal syndicates that take this administration into account for their business losses. Their motivations may range from the desire for power and wealth to ideological alignment with our large, bullying neighbor. Let us distance ourselves from these malevolent forces and think of the dire consequences such a regime change would inflict upon us if we allow these scumbags to succeed.
It’s no coincidence that talks of destabilization coincide with the July 15 to 18 third plenum meeting of the Communist Party of China. The Communist Party is known for its strategic planning, leveraging the stability of their political system to project regularity and long-term goals. It’s plausible that efforts to undermine our government are part of a broader strategy to weaken our resistance to security threats.
July is also when President Bongbong Marcos will deliver his third State of the Nation Address (SONA), a critical symbol of political legitimacy and continuity. Despite former General Rio’s revived accusations against COMELEC regarding the 2022 presidential elections, it’s time to move past these grievances. The political legitimacy of this administration is unquestionable, and with rising tensions between us and China, it is our duty to accept the election results and focus on unity.
Instead of hoping for the president to fail, true Filipinos should act with prudence. While it is our duty to stand against poverty, oppression, and injustice, we must also recognize the importance of national stability. This stability depends on our unity with our leaders, regardless of personal opinions about them. Now is not the time for division, as we face significant economic and political challenges. We should aspire to be resilient like Taiwan, which endures severe security challenges. Allowing malevolent forces to disrupt our political environment would be a grave abandonment of our duty as Filipinos.
True Filipinos are democratic and committed to their country’s well-being. Let’s stand united and uphold our nation’s stability and integrity.
