The Department on Education said that there will ne no class suspension amid the planned week-long transport holiday next week.

DepEd spokesperson Michael Poa when pressed by media if classes will be put on hold, said that “there will be no suspension of classes.”

“Those who will not be able to attend in-person classes should be allowed to continue learning through alternative delivery modes,” Poa said.

Earlier transport groups said that they will hold a transport holiday in the National Capital Region and Region 3 from March 6 to 12.

This is to express their opposition to the government’s Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Modernization Program.

It stated that majority of their members are jeepneys and UV Express drivers and operators.

Under the PUV modernization program it targets to replace traditional jeepneys with vehicles powered by more environment-friendly fuels.
