Filipino Muslims support Leni Robredo as President

on

Some five million plus Filipino Muslims will vote for Vice president Leni Robredo as the country’s new president this Monday, May 9, 2022. This after Filipino Muslim leader MOhaqer Iqbal says most Muslims still remember the tragic wars that the father of presidentiable Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos junior did during the Marcos regime.

The Mindanao Muslim block’s announcement shattered the myth or fantasm being created by the Uniteam led by Marcos Junior and Davao mayor Sara Duterte that the South is fully behind his candidacy. Several public pronouncements show that MIndanao is not solidly behind the BBM-Sara Duterte tandem.

Most Muslims say they prefer Robredo as president because of her deep understanding of the Bangsamoro struggle. Her running mate, Senator Kiko Pangilinan did not make the cut, according to several Muslim leaders. Instead of Pangilinan, most Muslims will vote for Davao city Sara Duterte as the country’s newest vice president.

In separate statements, the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) who now heads the Bangsamoro Transitional government in Mindanao said that Robredo fits the bill for a truly conscientious leader who understands the plight of Muslims everywhere.
