The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday revealed that the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) positive cases have increased by 284 new cases, bringing the total to 8,772 in the Philippines.

“As of 4PM today, May 1, 2020, the Department of Health reports 284 new cases (PH8489-PH8772) of COVID-19. The total number of cases in the country is now at 8,772,” said DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin #048.

The DOH also reported an increase by 11 the new fatalities,  bringing the total number of deaths in the country to  579.

DOH also announced 41 new recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 1,084./Stacy Ang
