‘Cayetano ready to relinquish speakership if congressmen don’t want him to stay’

on

MANILA, Philippines – According to reports, House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano is ready to relinquish control of the House of Representatives if congressmen don’t want him to stay.

Cayetano made the statement amid scathing allegations received by the Philippine Sea Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) over alleged “inconveniences” suffered by some athletes and other SEAG-related issues.

According to Cayetano, anyone who wants to be a speaker can do so because he or she is not in a position to speak.

The Speaker emphasized that the SEA Games had nothing to do with his position so if anyone wanted to take advantage of it or get in the way, it would be okay but the ones that hurt the most were the SEA Games and the country.

Earlier, Cayetano also told the media he “is also ready for any investigation and will face either the Senate or the Ombudsman.”

And this would be at least December 12 or the day after the SEA Games where Cayetano may be held accountable as the head of the Sea Games Organizing Committee.

The Speaker also expressed his willingness to undergo a lie detector test to prove that he did not lie and that he did not earn anything at the SEA Games.

At the same time, he challenged Sens. Panfilo Lacson and Franklin Drilon to also undergo a lie detector test. (Chris Figueroa/IAMIGO/CNS)
