Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. on Sunday said Singapore is donating 3,000 coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) test kits to the Philippines.
“Singapore is donating 3,000 COVID test kits and one PCR machine. THANK YOU SO MUCH, Memoing the President about this right now. I’m a bit tired,” said Locsin in his Twitter account.
Aside from the kits, Singapore will also provide one thermal cycler or PCR machine, which is used for scientific research and diagnostic medicine.
Amid the rising cases of infections, the Philippine government said it cannot perform mass testing due to insufficient kits.
On Saturday morning, Locsin met with Chinese Ambassador Huang Xi Lian, who turned over the donation of the Chinese Government to the Philippines which included medical supplies such as test kits, surgical masks, N95 masks and personal protective equipment (PPE).
The donation from Chinese Government including 100,000 test kits, 100,000 surgical masks, 10,000 N95 masks, and 10,000 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) arrived in Manila Saturday morning.
