‘Helpless against a seemingly uncontrollable inferno’

A resident can only cry her heart out while a relative helplessly watches as the uncontrollable inferno ate up what was once their place of abode and personal belongings, and no more.

Another enterprising resident even took matters into his own hands by firing the water cannon into the blaze but to no avail as the fire was beyond control.

Firemen said the fire struck at around 12:35 p.m. Thursday in a residential area in Leveriza Street, Malate, Manila. It reached the fifth alarm.

To make matters worse, water supply from the fire hydrant also accordingly ran out.

No casualty, however, was reported as of this posting.

The cause of the fire and damage to property are still being determined by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). (PHOTOS BY BENJIE CUARESMA/IAMIGO/CNS)
