The Philippines reported Monday its highest number of new recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in a single day at 298, as the country’s cumulative total of confirmed infections reached 26,420 ahead of expected adjustments of quarantine measures in the country.
The total recoveries stood at 6,252, while the death toll rose by 10 to 1,098.
It is the 5th straight day that new recoveries numbered more than 240.
Among the fresh cases, 131 are from Metro Manila, 79 are from Region VII, while the remaining 138 are spread out across the country.
Among the late cases, 21 are from Metro Manila, five are from Region VII, while the 116 other patients came from various areas nationwide.
As of June 13, the Philippines has 44 certified polymerase chain reaction facilities and 15 GeneXpert laboratories that have tested a total of 467,564 individuals.
Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to address the nation Monday night on his latest directives on quarantine restrictions.
