The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported that positive coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases nationwide rose to 6,710 with 111 new infections.
The death toll from COVID-19 also climbed to 446 after nine more patients died.
The DOH also reported that as of 4 p.m., April 22, 39 more patients have recovered from COVID-19, bringing total recoveries to 693.
Prediction models earlier showed that the Luzon-wide quarantine, set to expire on April 30, helped drive down the possible number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that a total of 58,072 people had been tested for COVID-19, 86.9 percent of whom were negative while 13 percent came out positive.
Despite the continued rise in cases, the DOH earlier noted that the doubling time of infections has slowed down to an average of five days from the previous three days.
Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to announce his final decision on the possible extension or modification of the Luzon-wide quarantine on Thursday./Stacy Ang
