The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported an increase in COVID-19 cases, with 518 new infected ones —totaling 22,992, in the country.
“As of 4PM today, June 09, 2020, the Department of Health reports the total number of COVID-19 cases at 22,992,” DOH COVID-19 CASE BULLETIN #087.
“In addition to the 280 fresh cases, 238 late cases were also reported today. Today’s fresh cases are based on the daily accomplishment reports submitted by only 38 out of 46 current operational labs,” said the DOH.
Deaths was reported at 1,017, with 6 new fatalities.
DOH likewise announces 99 recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 4,736.
Among the late cases, 89 are from Metro Manila, four are from Region VII, three are repatriates, while the 142 other patients came from various areas nationwide.
As of June 7, the Philippines has 41 certified polymerase chain reaction facilities and 13 GeneXpert laboratories that have tested a total of 406,255 individuals.
The DOH earlier said it is checking COVID-19 patients’ date of onset of illness to obtain a more accurate picture of how fresh the newly reported cases are./ Stacy Ang
