ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Eric Go Yap was rushed to a hospital in Benguet before dawn Saturday after feeling some discomfort.
Yap, who is also appointed Benguet’s caretaker lawmaker, was rushed to the Benguet General Hospital after collapsing at around 3 a.m., his chief-of-staff Kevin See said.
“Around 3:30 a.m., sobrang namumutla siya and bagsak ang katawan and in discomfort (he was pale and his body was sagging). He was also in discomfort,” See said.
During a radio interview with Bombo Radyo-Baguio, See said Yap had been having a hard time resting prior to getting confined.
“Hindi nga po siya masyadong makatulog, kakaisip (He couldn’t sleep much because he was thinking too much.),” See said.
According to See, they were discussing future projects in Benguet prior to the incident.
Yap later said in a statement he was “cleared” of any serious ailment, adding fatigue, stress and constant change of weather in Benguet led to his health deteriorating momentarily.
“This is just temporary and I will be up and running again soon!” he assured in a Facebook post.
In March, Yap was wrongfully included among those found positive with COVID-19 over a “clerical oversight” by the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM).
The RITM apologized for the error and declared Yap clear of the contagious disease.
The mistake had prompted several lawmakers to go on self-quarantine as they were present in official functions Yap also attended, including a meeting at the Malacañang Palace on March 21./Stacy Ang
