The Department of Health (DOH) reported a surge in the number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections, with an increase of 607 total—504 fresh cases and 103 late cases, totaling 25,392 cases in the Philippines.
“As of 4PM today, June 13, 2020, the Department of Health reports the total number of COVID-19 cases at 25,392,” said DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin #091.
“In addition to the 504 fresh cases, 103 late cases were also reported today. Today’s fresh cases are based on the daily accomplishment reports submitted by only 43 out of 54 current operational labs,” said the DOH.
Among the fresh cases, 246 are from the National Capital Region, 85 are from Region VII, and 173 are from other areas.
Among the late cases, 42 are from the National Capital Region and 61 are from other areas.
Deaths were recorded at 1,074, with 22 new fatalities.
DOH likewise announced 252 recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 5,706.
The DOH said that two duplicate cases were removed from Friday’s total confirmed cases. It reiterated that total cases reported may be subject to change as the numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation.
Meanwhile, at present, the Philippines has 43 certified polymerase chain reaction facilities and 15 GeneXpert laboratories.
