Former Presidential Commission on Good Government chairman Camilo Sabio was arrested on Friday in his home in Quezon City over pending criminal charges, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Sunday.
Sabio, 83, was apprehended based on a warrant issued by the Sandiganbayan 4th Division, the NBI said.
Sabio, head of the PCGG tasked to recover the ill-gotten wealth of the Marcos family, will be presented to the anti-graft court on Monday, the NBI added.
Sabio is facing several graft charges during his stint at the PCGG from 2005 to 2010, the NBI said.
The Sandiganbayan in January said a warrant of arrest should be issued against Sabio after it denied his motion for reconsideration over his graft conviction for influence peddling at the Court of Appeals (CA).
He was convicted last November for mediating between Jesus Santos of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and his brother, then CA Associate Justice Antonio Sabio who was about to handle a case between GSIS and Meralco./Stacy Ang
